Sugo Italian Pasta Bar in Santa Cruz offers not only delicious food but also excellent service and a great atmosphere. I had the Spaghetti alle Vongole, which was a perfect combination of tender clams, garlic, and olive oil with al dente pasta, and my wife had the Carbonara, a rich and creamy dish with pancetta that was wonderfully balanced. We also shared the Beef Carpaccio, which was delicate and melted in your mouth. The service was on point throughout our meal, and the ambiance added to the experience. It's a cozy, small restaurant with a lovely back patio, but we opted to sit inside. The warm, inviting setting made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this spot for an authentic Italian dining experience!

I love being able to write glowing reviews!! I can't recommend Sugo enough. Great ambiance- the owner was the one taking orders and checking in, so the experience felt very personal and intimate. Every table has a little lamp, flowers, oil, and balsamic. For food, we ordered the daily special appetizer (asparagus wrapped in speck with cheese), king salmon special, beef ravioli, spinach ricotta cannellini, and the carbanara. Everything was DELICIOUS, we had nothing but good things to say. We also paired our entrees with different wines which we liked. Prices for most wines circled $12-$15/glass, and expect to pay $20-$25 per entree. We dont typically order dessert but we enjoyed the food so much we decided to try it. The crème brûlée is easily top 3 best we've ever had.... So crackly on top and delicious!! Someone in our party has celiac, and the restaurant was very knowledgeable and helpful in making sure her food was safe. They have a gluten free pasta option and a (pistachio? I don't remember) gelato which was DELICIOUS. Great place for a friend reunion if you're looking to make it a Nice Meal. Thanks Sugo!

Excellent food, ambiance and service. The food was delicious and a nice variety and it was temperature hot -- obviously it had not been sitting around waiting for delivery to the table. The clams were local and fresh. We had pasta with meatballs and pasta with salmon and a vodka sauce. Their GF pasta was the best I've ever had!! Both entrees were yummy and there was so much food we have lunches for tomorrow! Small Indoor and outdoor seating. Super friendly and attentive staff. Make a reservation if you are bringing a larger group. This is my daughter's favorite Italian restaurant in Santa Cruz. We will definitely be back!!

Had a great experience here! Service was fast and friendly. Large portions and very tasty food. I got the penne salmon with vodka sauce ($24), which had a strong smoked salmon flavor that I really liked. We also shared a pizza ($22), which was delicious. The dough was super chewy and fresh. Overall highly recommend!

Very cute and quaint! My friend and I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant while enjoying a day in Santa Cruz. The staff were all super nice and helpful. Can confirm just say? I really love how cute their table set up is, they put small colorful flowers, freshly folded napkins, and utensils on cute little corkscrews. Adorable! The inner design of the restaurant is charming and very humble. I was inspired by a table next to ours to get the Fettuccine Allo Scoglio. This dish features fettuccine noodles, clams, wild shrimp, and calamari in white wine + garlic sauce with house made marinara sauce. OMG highly recommend! The seafood was so fresh and everything was seasoned to perfection. These are easily the best shrimp I've had in a veryyyy long time also! My pasta was so tasty and the seafood here definitely has my heart! lol. My friend got the Penne Vodka & Salmon and we were a bit surprised there wasn't a slice of salmon on the plate. It was more like tiny pieces of Salmon mixed into the sauce. Besides the initial shock (lol) he said he loved the pasta and would definitely get it again. So that's a good sign! lol. Oh and it is so charming how they have the guy with the Parmesan shaker come to the table as well. That really does add to the authenticity of the Italian restaurant. Honestly the food here is GREAT but I did take one star off because of how small the place is inside. It was also pretty packed when we came here on a Sunday, so it can be a bit loud and not very intimate if you're doing date night. lol. I would say it seems to be a popular spot for family, friends, and locals with good reason. Great high quality Italian food for sure.

Lovely Italian restaurant. They have patio dining and indoor dining. They have a build your own pasta dish with 2 gluten free pasta choices( fresh locally sourced casarecce and kale mozzarella) and a few other ravioli and noodles for those that eat gluten. The pasta was delicious. We had 2 of the 4 daily specials. Both with seafood. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. They take reservations.

Came here for lunch. It has been a while since we've had good Italian food. We were the first patrons here for lunch on a Tuesday. Sliced bread - fine. There's olive oil and balsamic. My husband ordered the penne vodka with salmon - He said it came with plenty of salmon I got the carbonara. Large portion that will feed me twice. Heavy but delicious. Very satisfying.

Had a great meal with family at Sugo. I ordered the caesar salad and their pasta special which was creste di gallo with porcini mushrooms and sausage. Both were great. Wifey had the flatbread with sausage and mushrooms while the kid had a little of each. Our family ordered the eggplant parmigiana, the carbonara, and Margherita flatbread. Service was attentive and food arrived quickly. We sat in the back patio which we were nervous about because it was a bit brisk in the evening but with the heaters, we were nice and toasty. Would definitely go back if/when in the area.
